Speech Pathology

A Speech Pathologist can help children by providing specialised therapies and interventions to improve communication skills, such as using visual aids and augmentative communication devices.

They can also work on improving social skills, such as initiating and maintaining conversations, and addressing any feeding or swallowing difficulties. Through individualized treatment plans, a Speech Pathologist can help children improve their overall communication abilities and quality of life.

Assessment & Therapy

Speech Pathologists offer a range of assessment and therapy programs individually tailored to your child’s needs and intervention goals. These services can be provided across environments, so that your child has multiple opportunities to demonstrate their skills and abilities, and a true understanding of their needs is considered when developing goals and planning for therapy.

Speech Pathology Assessment

Speech Pathologists are able to provide assessments across the areas of early language and speech sound development, pragmatic language (social communication), phonological awareness and pre-literacy skills, and reading and spelling development. A Speech Pathologist can also provide comprehensive Assistive Technology assessments to support provision of aided communication supports for children and adolescents with complex communication needs.

Please contact the clinic directly to enquire further and book your child in for an initial assessment today.

Individual & Group Therapy

Following an initial assessment, your Speech Pathologist will work with you and your child to explore the most suitable therapy approach to address your goals and identified areas for support. Your therapy journey will be individually tailored based on your child’s needs and goals and may include individual therapy, group therapy, or development of home and school programs for independent work.

Individual therapy includes targeted one-to-one sessions to support specific skill development directly related to your child’s goals. These sessions can occur in the clinic or home settings and include take home strategies and recommendations that allow your child to build their learning outside of the therapy setting.

Group therapy programs enable your child to build on the skills they learnt in one-to-one therapy sessions with peers their own age. Groups provide a fun and supportive environment for your child and support the development of long term friendships and collaboration with peers.

Please continue to keep up to date with The Rainbow Clinic website and Facebook page for more exciting groups in 2023.
